Summer School in Bali is back – with special guests from Finland!
This year’s International Summer Exchange at Warmadewa University was unlike any other. The program took place for the first time since the pandemic, and the Finnish influencers Joalin Loukamaa, Nelli Orell, and Jennifer Erica came to Bali to participate in Asia Exchange’s summer school. Moreover, the summer school of 2022 will be the first study abroad program in Bali on campus after two years of online lectures. However, the students and influencers also spend a lot of time outside the classroom exploring Bali and its culture.
Meet the three influencer girls from Finland:
Joalin lives in Finland but grew up in Mexico. She has been part of Now United and is a full-blood artist. Aside from being an influencer with 3.6 million followers on Instagram, Joalin just recently released her first single, Angelito, and is conquering the charts right now. Moreover, she is studying at the Influencer Academy in Tampere, Finland. She is pursuing big dreams and sees influence as a way to express her journey.
Nelli from Finland combined her influencer career with her creative mind and has already published three books in Finland. Her main channel is Tiktok, with 242k followers. She is a very active and dedicated young woman who always comes up with new ideas.
Jennifer is one of Finland’s Tiktok stars, with 4.3 million followers. She is famous for duets, slow-mow and dancing videos, and lip-syncs. Even though she comes from a small town in Finland, she became successful at a young age with a large following in the USA. Currently, she is studying at Hanken School of Economics.

Summer school in Bali is back!
Asia Exchange’s summer school in Bali enables international students worldwide to earn credits while exploring the Island of the Gods from July to August for 2-4 weeks. In addition to the university lectures about the Indonesian language and culture, tourism, business, and entrepreneurship, students participate in organized excursions and fun activities. Moreover, the students and influencers learn about Balinese culture in workshops to experience firsthand what they learn in class. For instance, at the beginning of the program, Warmadewa University invites international students to visit a traditional market in the capital of Bali, Denpasar. The students learn to bargain, taste exotic fruits, and buy traditional Balinese dresses. Other activities include learning the Balinese dance or community service.
Besides the university program, students can sign up for various side events such as surfing classes, a weekend trip to the Gili islands, hiking Mount Batur at sunrise, or a trip to Ubud and exploring the rice terraces. Nonetheless, our special guests from Finland and students had enough free time to make their personal Bali experience outside the curriculum, including fun nights out, meeting people from all over the world, and unwinding at the beach during the most impressive sunsets. The International Summer Exchange at Warmadewa University is for everyone who wants to earn credits during their summer break while getting the most out of their stay abroad.

Influencer event at Tropical Nomad “Self-Branding and Social Media Marketing”
Since Bali has become the hotspot and home for influencers from around the world over the past years, Joalin, Nelli, and Jennifer took the opportunity to get involved in the business culture on the island. For this special occasion, Asia Exchange and Tropical Nomad collaborated to host the influencer panel discussion as a public event in Canggu. Nowadays, the career as an influencer is widely recognized as such and has become an essential part of the modern marketing world. Therefore, it is vital to understand the work behind it and what role influencer marketing plays for businesses. During the panel discussion, Joalin, Nelli, and Jenniffer shared their perspectives on what it means to them to be an Influencer.
Moreover, they discussed the importance of self-branding in social media. They gave input on marketing strategies to kick off as an influencer and shared insights into the business. After the interested young audience asked their question, a relaxed networking session followed the panel discussion. An excellent opportunity to exchange ideas and meet like-minded people in a lively environment!
This is what our influencer from Finland had to say!

“This was my favorite trip ever. The people in Bali are so nice & welcoming, music everywhere, great food & just beautiful surroundings. I feel like I really got to let go for a little & came back home as a new person full of energy. Wouldn’t change it for anything!” – Joalin Loukamaa
