30 years of student exchange between Finland and Malaysia
On the occasion of 30 years of student exchange between Finland and Malaysia, we were invited to visit Finnish ambassador’s beautiful residence in Kuala Lumpur. Over hundred people came to this glorious event to celebrate the occasion and we were so glad that the Finnish exchange students at UPM were also invited. It was a great experience and we met a lot of new people and had great chats with all of them!

In the event we had a pleasure to listen to a couple special guests make a speech. Mr. Olli-Pekka Heinonen, a former education minister of Finland and currently a director general of Finnish national agency for education. Mr. Heinonen kept a short speech about education in Finland and Malaysia after a welcome greeting by Finnish ambassador Mr. Petri Puhakka.

Ella Gustafsson (a representative and the business development manager of The Finnish company Edunation) kept also a short speech about Edunation and launched it officially in the event. Edunation is a Finnish startup which has partnered with Finnish Embassy in Malaysia. Their aim is to make high-quality Finnish education more accessible to the world and the main goal is to bring more than 150 000 international students to study in Finland from all around the world by the year of 2020. This is made possible by a groundbreaking new modern way to recruit using artificial intelligence.
After the speeches, people started chatting again and having fun. Too bad I did not have so much time ’cos I was trying to take photographs out of the event but I hope you’ll like them! It is really hard to put the mood into words. It was just a really nice feeling overall and everybody seemed to have a great time!

And the food! Oh jeez, it was so great to have some Finnish appetizers like meatballs with mustard/lingonberry jam or fresh salmon. We were also served refreshments and by the time the glass was empty, we had a fresh one in our hands, so nice!
Big thanks to the Finnish ambassador for inviting us over and big thanks to Ma Su for informing us about this event!
