Discovering cultures
Korea and Hankuk University was a culturally enriching experience that gave me profound insights on many new things. I established friendships that will hopefully last for a lifetime and I felt like I really infiltrated the Korean culture – I got into it. I’m extremely grateful for the entire experience.
Seoul has an enchanting small town vibe even though there are 10 million people there. The nightlife was vibrant and the college area was always filled with people and action. I also developed an acquired taste and an unconditional love for Korean food. Kimchi is the thing – it will change your life.
The International Student Organization (ISO) on HUFS campus was always organizing different activities and everyone who worked there were very warm and helpful. That goes for the students at HUFS, too. It was hard to say goodbye to everyone. In addition to meeting and becoming friends with many Koreans, I also got to know people from several different other nationalities. HUFS has an extremely international student body and there are no clicks; everyone is interested in meeting you.
Going abroad has opened up my eyes and allowed me to see that there is another world out there besides the world I live in. I have put to rest my pre-notions.I cannot wait to travel to back to Korea and experience new things and meet more people.
