Student Visa for International Students
Visa requirements for studying in Italy depend on your nationality and the length of your stay:
EU/EEA citizens: No visa required. You have the right to study and live in Italy freely.
Non-EU students staying up to 90 days: No visa required for most nationalities. Check with the Italian Embassy in your home country.
Non-EU students staying more than 90 days: Must apply for a Type D long-stay student visa at the Italian Embassy or Consulate in their home country before departure. A letter of acceptance from the university, proof of financial means, and health insurance are required. Upon arrival, students must register for a Permesso di Soggiorno (residence permit) at the local police headquarters (Questura) within 8 business days.
