Student Visa for International Students
Visa requirements for studying in Ireland depend on your nationality and the length of your stay:
EU/EEA citizens: No visa required. You have the right to study and live in Ireland freely.
Non-EEA students staying up to 3 months: Apply for a C Study Visa at the Irish Embassy or Consulate in your home country before departure.
Non-EEA students staying more than 3 months: Must be enrolled in a full-time course on the Interim List of Eligible Programmes (ILEP). Apply for a study visa before arrival. Immigration Service Delivery (ISD) recommends starting the application process at least 2 to 3 months before your planned arrival.
US citizens: Do not need to apply for a study visa before arrival. Registration is handled on arrival through the ACD Student Life Office.
You cannot apply for your visa using the initial acceptance letter from Asia Exchange. You must wait for the official acceptance letter from your host institution. Visa requirements and procedures can change at any time — always verify the latest information directly with the Irish Embassy or Consulate in your home country.
