Courses at European University of Lisbon, Portugal
The European University of Lisbon is responsible for the teaching and the transcript of records.
- Students can choose from the 6 Bachelor programs listed here.
- Every program has 1 – 6 semesters.
- For September intake, students can select courses from semesters 1 – 3 – 5 (Please note that semester one course starts on the 12th of October instead).
- It is possible to select cross-semester courses and even cross-program courses however, the schedule may overlap. There is some travel time between different campuses.
- For February intake, students can select courses from semesters 2 – 4 – 6.
- It is possible to select cross-semester courses and even cross-program courses however, the schedule may overlap. There is some travel time between different campuses.

European University of Lisbon grants credits directly as either ECTS. Each course is worth 3-6 ECTS. You may choose between 3 and 5 courses, which amount to 18–30 ECTS.

To apply, you need to have at least
- Enrollment at an institution of higher education (University) for the upcoming year
- Sufficient English skills. You’re not required to take an official language test, however.

- Finally, fill out the online application form below and submit it with all the documents.
Uploading and submitting the attachments
- Please upload the attachments in PDF format.
- If possible, please submit all the attachments together with the application. If you’re missing some attachment(s) when you first apply, you can later send the missing document(s). However, please note that we won’t process applications without any attachments whatsoever.
- All attachments must be sent to us by the application deadline at the very latest, preferably as soon as possible.
- You can submit all the documents electronically. Please don’t send anything via regular mail.
- There is a late application fee for applications or attachments submitted after the application deadline.
Confirmation
You’ll get a confirmation of your study placement in 1-7 days, starting from when your application is complete with all the required documents.
Fees
The application fee invoice will be sent to you soon after the initial acceptance letter. This fee will be due within 10 days of receiving your confirmation. The application fee is non-refundable even if you decide to cancel (see below).
Cancellation
If you’re unable to participate in the study abroad semester, you have the right to cancel your participation up to 1 month before the semester starts with no extra cost (the application fee will not be refunded, however). Let us know about your cancellation by writing us an email at info[at]asiaexchange.org. Cancellations notified via phone, SMS or by any other means will not be considered. Travel insurance

The city center offers more than 250 bars to explore and meet people from all over the world. On top of that, Lisbon is home to some of the best restaurants and excellent cuisines in Europe. Aside from all of this, Lisbon is located right by the Atlantic Ocean.
Explore the wonders of the Atlantic Ocean! Dive with Dolphins, go surfing, sunbathing or swim in some of the most beautiful coastlines in Europe. The public transportation infrastructure is fantastic, and you can quickly reach Sintra or Cascais, two of the world’s most famous tourist destinations with amazing sceneries and even better food.

STUDIES & SCHEDULES
Q: Can I take Master’s level courses at UE Lisbon? A: No, at the moment it is not possible to join master level courses.
Q: Are there mandatory courses? A: No there are no mandatory courses at UE Lisbon.
Q: When are my course selections confirmed? A: After your application has been officially approved by the host University, the staff of UE Lisbon will reach out to you to request your course selection. They will then pre-confirm your course selection or inform you if certain courses are not available.
Q: Can I drop out of a course or add a course after making the course selections? A: In some cases, it is possible to drop out of some courses or add more. However, these kinds of decisions have to be made in the first week of the semester.
Q: How does the weekly schedule look like? A: In general, you will have contact lectures from Monday to Friday.
Q: What is the required minimum attendance? A: You must attend a minimum of 75 % of lectures and all mandatory workshops/excursions. You must also pass the mid-term and final exams to receive your grades. In case of sickness, you can discuss with the program staff regarding the excused absence.
Q: When do the exams take place? A: All exams will take place after the official semester dates at the end of your semester. The examination period is usually about 2 weeks long.
EVERYDAY CONDUCT
Q: Is there a dresscode at UE Lisbon? A: You should always cover your shoulders, belly, knees and toes when on campus.
VISA & TRAVEL
Q: What is the correct type of visa for studying at UE Lisbon?
A: European students do not need any visa to study Lisbon Portugal at UE university. However, if you are a non-European citizen, you need to apply for the Schengen Visa.
ACCOMMODATION
Q: How can I find suitable accommodation options? The university does not offer on-campus accommodation. However, there are plenty accommodation options available in Lisbon. Furthermore, the universities have premium partners for accommodation alternatives, which you can find in our guide. You can look for accommodations within the city or nearby the campuses. Airbnb is a popular option in Portugal.
Q: Should I book accommodation in advance or after arriving in Lisbon?
A: It is completely up to you. Many of the cheapest places get booked in advance during the autumn, but most students still prefer checking the accommodation options in person after arrival.

Q: How do students get from A to B in Lisbon?
A: Lisbon offers a fantastic public transportation system which is used by the big majority of our students.
HEALTH & SAFETY
Q: Which vaccinations do I need to take?
A: We recommend MMR, Tetanus-diphtheria and hepatitis A and B. You can ask your doctor for possible other recommendations.
Q: Do I need to have travel insurance? You are required to have valid accident and health insurance from your home country for the whole duration of the program. COSTS
In addition to tuition fees, you should be prepared to pay for the student visa, flights, accommodation, and other living costs. Compared to the rest of Europe, the cost of living is relatively low in Portugal. The actual costs depend on your individual lifestyle.
