You can study for up to two semesters as Study Abroad students. At ECU, a unit refers to the different courses you enroll in. ECU has 100s of units to choose from. Students can choose up to 3-4 units in one semester or 6-8 units in two semesters. This includes undergraduate or postgraduate studies.

Course selection
You would enroll in 3-4 units in one semester or 6-8 units in two semesters. You can choose courses from 8 schools to create a unique study abroad of 3-4 courses per semester. Check this guide for the list of courses. Choose an ECU degree for courses that match your interest. Once you have chosen your course, you will be asked to list the unit codes you plan to study in your one or two semesters at ECU. Please include the code and the name. For example, ACC1100 Accounting I.

At Edith Cowan University, credit can be granted in three ways:
- Specified Credit is when you’re given credit for specific units and where there is at least 70% equivalence in Learning Outcomes of your prior learning compared to the specific ECU unit.
- Unspecified Credit is where you’re given credit towards a course. It could be a credit for elective units or an unspecified Unit Set or Minor.
- Block Credit is where you’re given credit for a block component of a course, for example the first 60 credit points.
Courses at Edith Cowan University (called “units”) are measured in Credit Points (CP).
The recommended full-time study load is 60 Credit Points per semester, which is typically achieved by enrolling in:

The minimum full-time study load is 45 Credit Points per semester.
Fee Group A
- This includes 100s of units from disciplines in Arts, Business, Computing, Design, Economics, Education, Humanities, Law, Mathematics, Science (non-lab-based) and Social Science.
- 45 credit points = 22,5 ECTS (3 units): $6,075 AUD (approx. 3,580 EUR)
- 60 credit points = 30 ECTS (4 units): $8,100 AUD (approx. 4,770 EUR)
Fee Group B
- This includes a special selection of units in the disciplines of Engineering, Nursing, Paramedicine and Science (lab-based).
- 45 credit points = 22,5 ECTS (3 units): $9,090 AUD (approx. 5,330 EUR)
- 60 credit points = 30 ECTS (4 units): $12,120 AUD (approx. 7,100 EUR)
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- To be eligible for Study Abroad you will need to meet English and Academic entry requirements:
- English entry requirements vary depending on your chosen course and level of study.
- For other equivalent tests, check the English Competency page.
- If you have completed at least 0.375 equivalent full-time study load (EFTSL) of your degree in English and are from Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, or Switzerland, you meet the English requirement.
- Alternatively, if your home university can provide a letter confirming that you have a CEFR level of B2 or above, this will also be accepted.

- A scanned copy of the identification page of your passport. Passport must be valid for the entire duration of your stay in Australia.

The Initial Acceptance Letter can only be issued once all application documents have been provided. This letter is conditional and does not guarantee a study placement.
You can apply even if you’re not yet certain of your plans. However, please note that all fees are non-refundable.

Uploading and submitting the attachments
- Please upload the attachments in PDF format.
- If possible, please submit all the attachments together with the application. If you’re missing some attachment(s) when you first apply, you can later send the missing document(s). However, please note that we won’t process applications without any attachments whatsoever.
- All attachments must be sent to us by the application deadline at the very latest, preferably as soon as possible.
- You can submit all the documents electronically. Please don’t send anything via regular mail.
- There is a late application fee for applications or attachments submitted after the application deadline.
Confirmation
You’ll get a confirmation of your study placement in 1-7 days, starting from when your application is complete with all the required documents.
Fees
The application fee invoice will be sent to you soon after the initial acceptance letter. This fee will be due within 10 days of receiving your confirmation. The application fee is non-refundable even if you decide to cancel (see below).
CANCELLATION
If you’re unable to participate in the study abroad semester, you have the right to cancel your participation, however, any fees paid are non-refundable. Let us know about your cancellation by writing us an email at info@asiaexchange.org. Cancellations notified via phone, SMS or by any other means will not be considered. Travel insurance
You are required to have valid accident and health insurance from your home country for the whole duration of the program. The university may request a copy of the insurance certificate at the beginning of the semester. See our recommended travel insurance providers.
