Student Visa
We recommend you contact the Costa Rican embassy in your home country for the most up-to-date information since visa regulations change frequently and often without prior notice. Applying for a visa is different from country to country, sometimes even from one official to another. Beyond Abroad recommends that students take care of the visa well before departing for the destination.
Check the latest updates about applying for visas, the required documents, as well as the opening hours of the embassy’s website or by calling the embassy directly. Embassies are open according to the public holidays of the country they represent, as well as the holiday of the country where they are located.
Many nations including European citizens are entitled to travel to Costa Rica for 90 days as a tourist without a visa. This is recommended for students studying in Costa Rica for one semester as it might take longer than 6 months to finalize the student visa procedure in Costa Rica.

The Visa for Cuba is known as the Cuba Tourist Card. To study abroad in Cuba as an international student, you will need a student visa (D-2). During the application process, you must hand in all documents required by your nearest embassy. Please reach out to your nearest embassy and request visa application instructions here.

Accommodation
Cienfuegos University does not offer on-campus accommodation or dormitories. International students look for their accommodation independently on social media and well-known holiday rental websites. You can try looking before you arrive in Cuba, but even better is to wait and look for long-term accommodation once you are in the country.
Some students choose to stay at hostels/hotels for the first week to get to know the other students/potential roommates during the orientation events. If this is your preferred approach, we recommend booking the accommodation for your first days via Agoda. However, we still recommend looking into your long-term accommodation well in advance before your flight. Remember, other students will also be looking for places to stay!
