Accommodation in Tokyo

First-term requirement: All international students must live in university-managed accommodation during their first term. Rent for the first term must be paid up-front when you accept your place.

Student housing options: TUJ partners with several housing providers where students can share an apartment or live alone. Rooms typically have a small kitchen; communal kitchens are available. Student accommodation is usually guaranteed for TUJ students.

Partner residences: Examples include Cervia Will Musashi-Kosugi House and Kamikita House. TUJ negotiates discounted rates for its students.

Housing costs (per term):

• Single room ~ JPY 470,000
• Double ~ JPY 430,000
• Triple ~ JPY 390,000

Nextage (Homestay in Japan) offers TUJ students the opportunity to live with Japanese host families and experience everyday life in Japan. This option is ideal for students who want deeper immersion in Japanese culture and language. Participants are expected to adapt to the host family’s lifestyle, including living locally, sharing a Japanese diet with the family (breakfast and dinner), and taking part in daily family life.

Students who choose the homestay option will enter into a private contract directly with Nextage and agree to all terms and conditions set by the provider. After selecting the homestay option through the TUJ housing application, Nextage will coordinate with TUJ regarding the homestay arrangement and its status.

Juntendo University has its own dormitories, and most international students live in the following dormitory mentioned below. However, since the number of rooms is limited, accommodation is not guaranteed.

Dormitory Ochanomizu Hijiridai

The rent is 2,500 yen per day (75,000 yen a month), with utilities included. Additionally, a cleaning fee of 30,000 yen will be charged upon leaving the dormitory.

• All rooms are singles, 11 – 14 square meters.
• Rooms are assigned randomly.
• Rooms include: unit shower, toilet, air conditioner, bed, electric stove, mattress, refrigerator, internet (LAN port and wi-fi), table, and chair.
• Facilities include: coin washer and dryers, bicycle parking lot, surveillance cameras, auto-locking main entrance, and parcel delivery boxes.
• The dormitory does not have a cafeteria.
• Residents may stay in the dormitory during holidays.
