Siam University is among the leading private universities in Thailand and offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate degrees.Siam University is ranked among Thailand’s top ten universities in the number of international students by Thailand’s Commission of Higher Education, part of the Thai Ministry of Education.

The president of Siam University, Pornchai Mongkhonvanit, is also the President Emeritus of the International Association of Universities (IAU). He got his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Kasetsart University, Bangkok, an MBA from University of Wisconsin-Madison in the United states, and he also studied at the Institute of Educational Management at the Graduate School of Education in Harvard University.

Providing expert education since 1965

Siam University was established in 1965 by the late Dr. Narong Mongkhonvanit as the first private engineering school in Thailand. The student body then was a mere 200 but has exploded over the years and by the 2000s, Siam University had already graduated over 70 000 students. The universitywas formally established as a private institution of higher education and given the power to grant degrees in 1973.

Siam University aims at providing training and skilled experts to specific fields in trained labor. For example, when one of Thailand’s national economic initiatives was to turn the country intoa significant competitor on the printing and publishing markets, the universitylaunched a new academic program in Printing Engineering and Digital Media to help provide skilled workers for the industry. Siam University is constantly working on developing and improving its existing curriculum, as well as adding on new fields of expertise that reflect the changing state of the economy and labor demand.

Siam Universityhas a strong internationalization agenda and many native English speakers from Europe and North America in its faculty. Campus area and activities

The Siam Universityis centrally located and has 20 main buildings. In 1999, a new multipurpose building was constructed to commemorate the 50th anniversary of His Majesty, King Bhumibol’s ascension to the throne.

There are dozens of sports, arts and career skill clubs that students can join in at the university. For athletics, there is, for example, Taekwondo, Cheerleading and modern dance, Judo, Thai Boxing and Basketball clubs. There are also various music and religious clubs as well as academic clubs on International travel, Business management, Leadership and Law. Students can also volunteer or take part in bettering the environment through clubs at the university.
