Do you enjoy the hectic market atmosphere and digging through the stalls, you’ll find something spectacular. If you said yes, your place is in the Chatuchak weekend market in Bangkok. If you said no, however, you should still give the mother of all markets a chance, and maybe after a day at Chatuchak, you’ll become the most significant market lover.

What can you buy from Chatuchak market?
In Chatuchak market, there’s everything for everyone and even more. You just name it and there you go! More than 15 000 market stalls are spread across 35 acres and divided into 27 sections. In every section, the vendors are selling different items from the different categories. For example vintage Levi’s jeans and vans for the hipsters, design clothes and accessories for the fashionistas and an unlimited amount of different kind of flavors for the food lovers. However, lots of overpriced rubbish can also be found so try not to get blind in the heaven of goods.

How should you prepare before going to Chatuchak?
The market area is enormous and you can easily spend there a day or two. The best time to go to the market is in the morning because it will get very crowded and hot during the day.On a typical weekend, you might see more than 200 000 people strolling around and trying to find the best goods on offer. Wear light clothes and comfortable shoes. You are not going to a party when you go to the market so leave your most uncomfortable outfit at home. Also, take a lot of water with you so you won’t pass out because of the sweltering heat. Always take care of your belongings and be aware of pickpockets.

How can you find yourway to Chatuchak?
Getting to Chatuchak market is pretty easy and you can go there with various of transports. Taxis, tuk-tuks, and buses are a good choice but it’s easier and faster if you just hop on the Skytrain to Mo Chit station or take the subway (MRT) to Chatuchak Park. The crowd will lead you to the market area after you hop off. Chatuchak market is open from 9 am to 6 pm on Saturdays and Sundays, and on Fridays from 6 pm to 00 am. Even though it’s most known as a weekend market, the plant sections are also open on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7 am to 6 pm.
